We observed, discussed, planned, and worked in the Hopital Bienfaisance Dental Clinic for several days until we experienced a revelation of one of their greatest needs: electricity. Most mornings we saw the dentists and assistants ready to work, 80 children waiting outside to be seen, and adult patients registered with the hospital to receive dental treatment just waiting. Why? Pignon runs on generators. The hospital receives its power to turn on lights and equipment from its own generator. The dental clinic must receive permission from the hospital to use their generator to begin their workday. Our goal of getting the dental clinic their own generator climbed to the top of the list. We are working to partner with our local power companies to raise funds for a new generator.
